Parque Natural da Serra de Sao Mamede is an ideal environment for a nice walk or bicycle ride through the astonishing nature. You’ll pass old cork oaks, stone oaks, olive groves mixed with all kinds of fruit trees and of course the herds of sheeps and cows (hear their bells) in a rocky environment.
Be aware that the landscape is quite hilly, especially when visiting the castle villages of Marvao (at an altitude of 800m) and Castelo the Vide (600 m) – our estate lies on an altitude of 400 meter. However the small town of Beira is an almost flat walk right from our doorstep. An electric bike is recommended for those who like a relaxed touring. However, the landscape is perfect for those who like a challenge on a race or mountain bike.
At kiosk Amsterdao you’ll find a map with several walking and cycling routes. Soon we’ll be offering them also as .gpx files and in the app Komoot and Wikiloc. But you can also just start walking and explore the countryside by yourself. There are many unpaved paths that lead to old hamlets with central fountains and washing facilities.
Soon you’ll find much more information and pictures about all the opportunities on this page.
